Welcome to: The German Society for Microcirculation and Vascular Biology

Herzlich Willkommen auf der Internetseite der Gesellschaft für Mikrozirkulation und Vaskuläre Biologie (GfMVB)

Dear Colleagues,

We are excited to announce the Joint Meeting between the German Society for Microcirculation and Vascular Biology and the British Microcirculation and Vascular Biology Society to be held July 7-8, 2022 at the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Foundation in Berlin (Mitte), Germany.

This joint meeting of the two national societies will bring together international experts from various fields of (micro-)vascular research to foster scientific exchange and strengthen (inter)national collaborations and networks. The conference will host a series of plenary sessions as well as dedicated poster presentations to represent the full breadth of our discipline, including hot topics in angiogenesis, glycocalyx research, infection and vascular permeability, atherosclerosis and inflammation, microcirculation in heart failure, pulmonary hypertension and renal microvasculature.

Besides the invited international experts, there will be slots for 2-3 oral presentations in each session, based on selections from abstracts, to provide a platform for young researchers and trainees to present and discuss their work to a broad audience. You want to be one of those young speakers, or simply present and discuss your work, or learn what your peers in the field are doing? Great! We are happily awaiting your abstract submission until June, 25th, 2022. Please also note that a limited number of travel grants will be available. Respective links for registration, abstract submission, and application for travel grants will be made available via the website www.gfmvb.com in due course. Furthermore, there we will be an extra session for renowned science awards, like the Hermann ReinTerence J. Ryan and Aletta Jacob Awards, where the best applicants will compete against each other. Prizes will be available for the best abstract/poster and oral presentations.

The event will take place at the Kaiserin-Friedrich-Foundation in the heart of Berlin (https://kaiserin-friedrich-stiftung.com/), adjacent to the Campus Mitte of the Charité Medical University with a get together on the first evening, and a main social event with dinner at the famous Berlin Ballhaus (http://www.ballhausberlinhostel.de/en/home/) on the second evening.  As one of Europe’s most popular travel destinations Berlin offers, in addition, numerous cultural and historical places of interest as well as a rich gastronomic and club scene, which you may want to explore.

Join us as we discuss the most recent research and emerging topics in our discipline and help shape the future of our societies.

We are looking forward to seeing you in Berlin
